Program
The
Bachelor of Science in Dental
Hygiene Degree Completion Program
(BSDHCP) is specifically designed
for dental hygienists with an
Associate's degree, diploma
or certificate in Dental Hygiene
who want to earn their Bachelor's
degree in dental hygiene online.
The BSDHCP offered by the School
of Health Professions through
the Department of Dental Hygiene,
will enhance your theoretical
and clinical knowledge, and
promote career advancement in
management, education, public
health, sales, marketing and
research. The degree is also
aimed at those who want the
option to move into a new field
related to dental hygiene, pursue

Technology

from NAU. This degree was developed

Nursing
The
Department of Nursing has expanded
the opportunities for study at
the graduate level. The emphasis
of the entire program is to prepare
nurses to work at advanced levels
of practice in rural areas. The
MS Nursing program is open to
nurses who hold a Baccalaureate
Degree in Nursing. For those who
hold a Baccalaureate degree in
another field, please contact
the Nursing Department for alternative
options. There is a choice of
three tracks that you can focus
on. These are: Family Nurse Practitioner,
Rural Health Clinical Nurse Specialist
and Rural Health Nurse Education.

Career and Technical Education
We
offer this program to prepare
you for teaching or administration
in Career & Technical
Education (CTE), secondary career
and technical teaching, or post-secondary
career and technical education.
Three emphasis areas are offered:
Administration, Teaching, or Educational
Technology. While this program
does lead to CTE certification,
it does not lead to a standard
secondary teaching certificate.
Those interested in teaching at
the secondary level are advised
to complete a program that provides
standard teacher certification
first. Those interested in pursuing
teaching certification for the
secondary level should contact
a program advisor prior to applying
for this program.

Early Childhood Education
The
M.Ed. Early Childhood Education,
a 36 credit hour program, is aimed
at teachers who intend to develop
skills working with preschool
and primary children, and to enhance
teaching skills. Completion time
varies with course availability
and the number of total courses
you are able to take in one semester.
This degree does not lead to teacher
certification.

Educational Technology
The
Masters of Education in Educational
Technology Degree Program includes
a variety of courses that can
be taken completely online. Furthermore,
students can complete coursework
at a variety of computer labs
located throughout most regions
in Arizona. Students unfamiliar
with the use of technology in
education should consider taking
ETC 447 (Technology in the Classroom)
as a basic introductory course
that addresses basic technology
applications such as multimedia,
spreadsheets, and databases. Successful
students will have expertise and
skills in software use and integration
of educational technologies. They
will have a vision of roles and
impacts of technology in educational
environments, have developed a
philosophy of technology integration
based on
theories of learning and experiences
in the program, have a deep understanding
of how human beings learn. They
will also have an awareness of
and know how to implement standards
for teachers and students, be
active participants in self-assessment
and personal growth, and have
an understanding of the use of
technologies and their integration
in a culturally, linguistically,
and physically diverse learning
environment. Many national reports
cite the critical need for prospective
teachers to have training in technology.
Several states have already mandated
an undergraduate course in computer
education for all teachers. Many
school districts in Arizona look
for a course in educational technology
on the transcript of applicants
for teaching positions. For this degree,
it is recommended, but not required,
that students have a basic teaching
certificate.

Elementary Education-Continuing
Professional Emphasis
Discover
the value of inquiry, reflection,
application, and evaluation of
your practice through interaction
with outstanding full and part-time
teachers and mentors in this M.Ed.
in Elementary Education. Through
courses in curriculum design and
development and teaching methods,
you will learn to apply practical
strategies in your classroom that
work to reach all of your students.
Within this 36 hour program, you
will take 9 credit hours of education
foundations, 18-21 hours of elementary
education courses, and 6-9 hours
of cognate courses. You can embed
a reading endorsement or ESL endorsement
in this degree program. This degree
requires a bachelor's degree and
a separate application to the
College of Education. This degree
program does not lead to AZ state
certification.

Interdisciplinary Studies - Administration
of Justice
This
degree provides the education
and skills necessary to enter
into or seek promotion within
the criminal justice system. Employment
opportunities exist in the areas
of law enforcement, corrections,
probation, legal offices, court
personnel, private security, Human
Services Assistant, etc. These
fields are highly selective and
require intensive background checks;
thus, employment in these areas
is not guaranteed by earning this
degree. Students will develop
decision making and leadership
skills within the field of law
enforcement. At the same time,
students learn the skills needed
for effective interpersonal communication,
administrative decision-making
and personnel management. Students
will be able to understand the
structure, organization, function,
policies and practices of the
criminal justice system. They
will also understand the policy
implications of crime, as well
as develop their research skills.
This degree program is also available
as a BAS (Bachelor of Applied
Science) or BA (Bachelor of Arts)
in Interdisciplinary Studies.

Public Agency Administration
The
Bachelor of Applied Science specializing
in Public Agency Administration
is designed for students with
an associate degree from community
college to provide the education
and skills to enter into or seek
promotion within careers in government,
private, or public agencies whose
focus is on public service, administration,
and management. Within this program,
you focus on Public Agency Administration
including budgeting, planning,
and organizational issues in public
agencies. You choose courses that
are designed to help you acquire
a general knowledge of management,
organizational, and policy issues
while advancing your professional
communication, computer, and quantitative
skills. To specialize in Public
Agency Administration, you choose
from courses such as: Discretion
and Decision Making, Concepts
in Management, Environment and
Society, Diviance, Government
Budgeting, Government Budgeting,
Public Agency Organizational Theory,
Public Agency Personnel Administration,
Policy and Community, Conflict
Resolution. You also complete
21 units/hours in four areas:
communication, public administration
and management, technical and
quantitative, and values, ethics
and policy.

The
purpose of the Master of Administration
is to offer a degree designed
for mid-career professionals who
would like a comprehensive understanding
of administration and seek to
strengthen and update their administration
skills. Advance your career in
community planning by gaining
theory and knowledge of budgeting,

with the fundamentals of land
use planning and community development.
The community planning emphasis
builds upon your applied experience
to expand your career opportunities
as a public sector planner in
local government, a private sector
land use planning consultant,
or a community planner for a nonprofit
organization.

Management
The
purpose of the Master of Administration
is to offer a degree designed
for mid-career professionals who
would like a comprehensive understanding

anticipate and respond to societal
and technological changes throughout
their career. Students will learn

purpose of the Master of Administration

writing skills, this emphasis
